3 Things to Never Forget About in Life

1. Stop Comparing Yourself

Personally, I have struggled with comparison most of my life. I feel like this is a trap that many of us are guilty of falling into, even if somewhat subconsciously. This tendency is just as natural as any other human emotion. However, if you don’t learn to stop this mindset, it can be detrimental to your happiness.

“A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms.”

First of all, comparisons are always unfair. We tend to compare the worst we know about ourselves to the best we assume about others. While focusing on the negatives in life is not nearly as beneficial as focusing on the positives, you must be aware that no body is perfect. Although this contradicts what you may have fooled yourself into believing, it’s an important fact to be recognized. Everyone is flawed. However, we are all created in God’s image, and that is what makes us all perfectly imperfect. We need to learn to embrace our “flaws” and recognize the beauty in them.

Next time you catch yourself self-comparing to someone else because they have a quality that you don’t, remind yourself that we are all amazing in our own unique way. Sure, you may not have the exact same traits as they do, but you are you there is no one else in this world like you; who thinks like you, talks like you, looks like you and has the same talents you possess. Aspire to be the most beautiful  version of yourself and you will live a greater life.

2. Change in a positive way

Change is an inevitable part of life. Sometimes we change to adapt to the obstacles life has thrown at us, other times we change to become better versions of ourselves. We are all prone change, but you must keep in mind that no matter where you’re at in life, you should continually strive to change in a positive way.

“Your life doesn’t get better by chance. It gets better by change.”

Give yourself some time to think about some habits you would like to like to create in the next few months that could have a positive impact on your life. Focus on one goal at a time and be persistent in accomplishing it; don’t let anyone or anything stop you from being the best person you can be.

3. Don’t fear failure

We all make mistakes, small and large, failures and faux pas. In the moment of failure, it may not seem like an awesome learning opportunity. The fear of failure often poses a challenge for us to take risks, stretch our boundaries, or step outside our box. However, you must realize that your shortcomings are what make you one of a kind, and that they have the power to advance and mature you as an individual, only if you are capable of learning from your mistakes.

“The rate at which a person can mature is directly proportional to the embarrassment he can tolerate.”

  1. I liked this article a lot. 🙂 The fear of failure I think is also linked to fear of feeling shame- unworthy. Failure usually brings our inner most critics and shame talk out, which is very distressing.
